TEXAS/OKLAHOMA Team Ropers Win 2011 Labor Day Pasture Roping

 Justin Parish of Stephenville, Tx and Cody Doescher of Oklahoma City took home the championship from the Brewster Ranch Labor Day Pasture Roping that was held in Bristow, Okla. September 4^th and 5^th.  The team (pictured below) won over $1700 per man along with Bob Berg championship buckles at the event.    Click on the picture for larger view.

The pasture roping is like not other roping event as the ropers give the steer a 100 foot head start into an open pasture as the team chases the steer anywhere he wants to go in the open range.  The team ropes the head and heels of the steer to complete the run.  Parish and Doescher won the average on three steers in a time of 48.6 seconds or 16.2 seconds per run.  Only three tenths of a second separated the first and second place teams.  Tim Victory of Chelsea, Okla. and Ty Knott of Oologah, Okla. won the second place honors with an average of 48.9 seconds on three steers.  Dusty Beitz and Bryan Girdner won the number 11 incentive.

Sara Daniel of Bristow took home the championship of the pasture barrel race for the second year in a row with a winning time of 67.8 seconds.  The pasture barrel race is not the traditional barrel race but a true test of endurance.  It features contestants running the cloverleaf barrel pattern in an open pasture with the third barrel being a pond dam.

The Brewster Ranch Labor Day Pasture Roping is a continued tradition of the Bushyhead Pasture Roping that started in the mid 1980’s by Clem & Donna McSpadden but was not continued at Bushyhead after the passing of Mr. McSpadden.  Clark & Debbie Brewster who hosted the event presented a $1,000 check to the Clem McSpadden OSU Animal Science Endowment Fund.

The Brewster Ranch Labor Day Pasture Roping and Western Weekend hosted multi events such as the World Series Team Roping, Mounted Shooting, and an AQHA Trail Ride, which welcomed over 2,000 contestants and spectators to the 3,500 acre Brewster Ranch and indoor equine facility.
